Resident of Maui, Hawaii. Baba teaches traditional West African Dance classes weekly in Hawaii. Baba Kauna is one fo the two co-founders of the Sankofa Dance Theater and Artistic Director from 1989-2005. As a Baltimore native under his leadership SDT became one of the most outstanding African Dance Co's. in the States. SDT has toured through out the States, West Africa and Europe. Through his leadership SDT collaborated exstensively with theaers, museums, and schools through out the States and abroad. The Kennedy Center became a major assistance for SDT over a ten year period supporting them technically with their annual concerts. Baba also have experience in jazz dance, modern, hip-hop, ballet, and yoga. Baba is a well known story teller, theater instructor, costume designer, theater coach, and stage manager. While on Maui, Baba has been brought on productions for theater coaching and stage manager. Baba is very well known for his positive communication skills that helps others to bring out the best in themselves. Baba Kauna is a joy to work with.
